News supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month.    






Charlotte, N.C. – announced today it's support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by sponsoring a local initiative to support the local Susan G. Komen affiliate. employees can purchase a "Bring Home the Cure" pink bracelet for $5 (pictured below), and in return they can wear jeans on Thursday.  By purchasing 5 bracelets, they can wear jeans every Thursday the month of October.  The entire proceeds are being donated to the local Susan G. Komen affiliate along with a contribution from the company.

“We support this cause because of the impact Breast Cancer has had on our employees and their families.” said CEO Keith Luedeman. “Early detection and treatment is key - and education and information is the best way to spread the word.”

Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women.  Breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer death in Hispanic women. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native women.

In 2011 (the most recent year numbers are available)—

• 220,097 women and 2,078 men in the United States were diagnosed with breast cancer.*

• 40,931 women and 443 men in the United States died from breast cancer.*
