News supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month.    






Charlotte, N.C. – announced today it's support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by sponsoring a local initiative to support the local Susan G. Komen affiliate. employees can purchase a "Bring Home the Cure" pink bracelet for $5 (pictured below), and in return they can wear jeans on Thursday.  By purchasing 5 bracelets, they can wear jeans every Thursday the month of October.  The entire proceeds are being donated to the local Susan G. Komen affiliate along with a contribution from the company.

“We support this cause because of the impact Breast Cancer has had on our employees and their families.” said CEO Keith Luedeman. “Early detection and treatment is key - and education and information is the best way to spread the word.”

Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women.  Breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer death in Hispanic women. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native women.

In 2012 (the most recent year numbers are available)—

• In 2012 Breast cancer accounted for nearly 25% of all cancers.*

• In 2016, an estimated 246,660 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone.*

* Over the past 20 years, progress in treatment and early detection has lead to improved survival for people of all ages, races, and stages of breast cancer.
